Gabriella

Meet Gabriella, a spirited 25-year-old Morgan mare who has been part of our family since 2009! As the oldest and wisest member of her herd, she proudly holds the title of herd leader. Gabriella takes her job of protecting her friends very seriously; she’ll stand in front of Midnight and Karma if she senses any threat.

She also has the other horses quite aware of the pecking order and makes sure she gets the best hay pile or the right to stand in front of the water trough for as long as she wants! Both of my daughters Alex and Kat took their turns riding Gabby and although she has a very smooth gait she will make sure her rider is well versed on how to sit tight if she feels the need to throw a little buck!

Even though Gabby has some spice she is the sweetest and most gentle horse with anyone on the ground. Kat has been leading Gabby by herself since she was a little toddler! She has the kindest eyes and is always there to offer her shoulder to cry on. Her calm and steady energy is so comforting and she will make you feel instantly better.

Midnight

Midnight is a 19 year old Morgan gelding. Midnight has also been a part of the family since 2009. He is quite the firecracker and stands second in charge next to Gabriella.

Midnight was Alex’s first horse. They grew up together and had the best adventures! He was always really good at anything and gave his whole heart to anything he did. He has also been the troublemaker of the bunch since the beginning. If there was a way to get out of the fence or his stall he would find it!

He also never let anyone besides me or Alex catch him if he escaped. Midnight loves to play, and has the personality of a puppy. He would totally get in your lap if he could!

Midnight was Alex’s first love and she became the strong rider that she is today because of him. He also helped her out of a really tough period of her life when she needed him.

Alex gave him the biggest honor she could have and passed him on to her little sister Kat when she was ready to ride. He is crazy and spunky and like a little child at times but he has a heart of gold and loves his girls fiercely!

karma

Karma is a 16 year old quarter horse mare and joined the family in 2015. Karma is the biggest horse in the field but she looks to Midnight and Gabby as her leaders! Karma is big and strong, but so gentle and sweet. She is my little scaredy cat and finds Gabby quickly for reassurance that everything is ok if anything spooks her, which things often do!

Karma tends to want to mother the other animals we have introduced to the herd. Kitty the barn cat loves Karma and wants to walk with me whenever I am leading her in or out of the stalls!

Jerry the G.O.A.T came to us in 2021 and instantly became attatched to Karma. He followed her around wherever she went and would get concerned and protective when anyone would try and ride her. We were convinced that Karma thought she was his mother.

Sadly in the late fall of 2023 Jerry developed bladder stones that weren’t discovered until it was too late. After Jerry was gone Karma seemed like she was missing a part of her. Daisy and Maybelle the 2 mini Heirfords joined the crew at Little Peace of Heaven Ranch that next summer, and although they are technically separated from the horses you will often see both cows standing right next to Karma on the other side of the fence. She seems content with her new “children”.

daisy

Daisy is an almost 2 year old miniature Heirford heifer. She is slightly younger and slightly smaller than her counterpart Maybelle but she is definitely the captain of their squad!

She loves her sister Maybelle but she will make sure she is the first to get her grain and the last to clean up any of the crumbs left behind. When “the girls” first came to the farm we weren’t quite prepared for them and they instantly found their way out of the fence and off to the hills! (You can read more about their story in “My biggest adventure” told by Maybelle).

Daisy was the first one found and was only out on her own for 2 days. We kept her at our friends farm until we were able to properly reinforce the fence! I was able to form a bond with Daisy as I had one on one time with her every morning and every night. Although Daisy was pretty timid with others when she first came back to her forever home, she is now curious and sweet and loves her scratches from just about anyone! ESPECIALLY if there is grain involved!

maybelle

Maybelle is also an almost 2 year old miniature Heirford heifer. When her and Miss Daisy decided to head for the hills when they came to us, Maybelle was out on her own grand adventure for 9 days!!! When she was finally captured and reunited with her sister, she was very nervous. It took a lot of time and patience to get her to trust me enough for her to even accept a bowl of grain.

Eventually, I was able to win her over, and now she gets in line for her scratches! Maybelle would still rather me be the only human interaction she experiences, but she is definitely curious about all of the people coming and going. She is still a “look dont touch” type of girl. Although, “The girls” are inseparable and often times it looks like one big cow instead of 2 because of how close they stand to each other!

rascal

Rascal aka “Kitty” is a 3 1/2year old male barn cat. Kitty came to us just over 3 years ago when we heard about this adorable kitten that seemed to have been dropped off at an old abandoned house.

Since my husband and step daughter are allergic to cats he became our very spoiled, “aggressively affectionate” barn cat. Kitty will likely greet you upon arrival and demands attention!

I am quite positive that kitty thinks that this is his farm and he is simply allowing us all to share his land. He is not afraid of ANYTHING and is often found hanging out with the horses and cows. He loves it when we have events at the farm and even tries to participate in Yoga classes that were held on the property! Kitty will make a nice warm bed on the top of your car and will even try and get inside if you leave your windows open, footprints on the dashboard have been reported quite often by our guests!

marley

Marley is an 8 year old toy Australian shepherd who fears no one and nothing. He is 20 pounds and looks like a little princess until you see him in action! He takes his job as an Aussie very seriously and chases anything off the property that doesn’t belong!

shooter

Shooter is a 6 year old Texas Healer which is a cross between a toy Australian shepherd and a red healer. He is the ultimate guard dog and believes that everyone is guilty until proven innocent! His job besides protecting his humans is to be the best frisbee catcher in the world and he demmands to practice any chance he can get.

max

Maximus is a 3 year old Bernese Mountain dog who is quite literally a gentle giant. Weighing in at 135 pounds he towers over the other 2 dogs. He however is the sweetest most gentle of the 3. He loves hugs and will jump up and stand on his back two feet to get a kiss. You may not see these beautiful pups out and about on the property, but they love to sit in the front room and keep watch!

Walter

Walter is an 8 year old bearded dragon who came to live here in the barn at Little Peace of Heaven last summer. I am convinced he is the coolest, sweetest bearded dragon that ever lived! Although he is not a young man anymore and spends most of his days basking peacefully under his UV and heat lamp. He sure does love to get out of his cage and explore the barn whenever he can!

He is very curious and loves to find new places to climb on and under. He walks around until he’s too tired to move, then usually finds his way back to me and crawls up onto my lap to find a warm place to fall asleep. His favorite food is blue hornworms or dehydrated crickets. He loves to soak in a warm “bath” every couple days and is happy to curl up on his nice warm heated mat at night! He is well loved and spoiled!
